Dedicated Server Operating Systems

You can install AlmaLinux, Rocky Linux, Debian, Ubuntu Server, CentOS Stream or CloudLinux on your dedicated server, or use licensed Windows Server 2019 and 2022. For any system not on the list, simply mount your own ISO through IPMI. If you plan to host websites, we install cPanel/WHM, Plesk or CyberPanel free of charge on request. Create ns1 and ns2 custom nameservers on your own domain to serve customers under your brand and keep DNS management fully in your hands.

Dedicated Server Security and Management

On a dedicated server, data safety starts with the disk layout: with RAID 1 or RAID 10 the disks mirror each other and a failed drive is replaced without shutting the server down. IPMI access lets you connect at hardware level and investigate even when the operating system is unresponsive. If you would rather not manage the server yourself, our SLA server management service handles updates, security patches, monitoring and backups. Either way, hardware and network monitoring remain Bogahost's responsibility.

Dedicated Server vs VDS vs VPS

All four keep your site online; the difference is how resources are allocated. With web hosting, many sites share one server. A VPS gives you a virtual server, but CPU and disk are shared with other users. On a VDS virtual server the resources are reserved for you, yet you still run on a virtualisation layer. A dedicated server has no layer in between: the whole machine is yours, delivering the most consistent performance under heavy CPU and disk load. Not at that scale yet? What is a physical (dedicated) server?

A physical server, or dedicated server, is real server hardware with no virtualization where all resources are allocated to a single customer. CPU, RAM, disk and NIC belong entirely to you with no neighbors. Bogahost physical servers are hosted in the Mars Telekom (Mars DC) Tier III data center on Dell and HP enterprise hardware. They are ideal for high-traffic e-commerce, gaming, database and custom application projects.

What is the difference between a physical server and a VDS?

A physical server gives you the entire hardware with no virtualization layer. A VDS is a virtual server running on VMware ESXi where hardware resources are partitioned and allocated to you. Physical servers are preferred for high-I/O workloads such as databases, gaming and large e-commerce. A VDS is more flexible, quicker to provision and more affordable for mid-tier projects.

How much do Bogahost dedicated servers cost?

Bogahost dedicated server prices depend on CPU model, RAM amount, disk configuration and bandwidth. Entry-level Intel Xeon E-series servers start in the low thousands of Turkish lira per month, while higher-end dual-CPU EPYC or Xeon Scalable builds are quoted on request. NVMe SSD upgrades, RAID options and additional IPs are billed modularly. Annual contracts come with extra discounts and a waived setup fee.

How long is the delivery time of a physical server?

Standard configurations of Bogahost physical servers are usually delivered within 4-24 hours. Models in stock are provisioned same day after payment approval and delivered with IPMI and root credentials. Configurations that require special hardware, additional RAID cards or extra NVMe disks may take 2-5 business days. You can track the provisioning status live from the order screen in the client area.

Which operating systems can be installed on a dedicated server?

On Bogahost dedicated servers you can install CentOS Stream, AlmaLinux, Rocky Linux, Debian, Ubuntu Server and CloudLinux on the Linux side. Windows Server 2019/2022 is offered as a paid license option. cPanel/WHM (Linux) or Plesk Obsidian (Linux/Windows) control panels can be added. For custom ISO uploads you can get support via IPMI.

What is IPMI and why is it important for a dedicated server?

IPMI (Intelligent Platform Management Interface) is a hardware management interface that allows remote access to the server even when the OS is down. You can reboot the server, enter the BIOS or mount an ISO to install a new OS through IPMI. Bogahost provides KVM-over-IP capable IPMI access on every physical server for free. It is a lifesaver during emergency hardware interventions.

How much faster is NVMe SSD than a traditional SSD?

NVMe SSDs run over the PCIe bus and deliver roughly 5-7 times the read/write speed of SATA SSDs. A typical SATA SSD stays around 500-600 MB/s while NVMe drives operate in the 3,000-7,000 MB/s range. Database query times, page load times (TTFB) and file copy operations all improve noticeably. On Bogahost physical servers, NVMe disks are deployed in RAID 1 or RAID 10 configurations.

Should I choose RAID 10, RAID 5 or RAID 1 for my server?

RAID 10 is the best choice when you need both performance and data safety, particularly for high-I/O database servers. RAID 1, with two-disk mirroring, is an economical starting point for redundancy. RAID 5 has good disk efficiency but slower writes, so it is not recommended for databases and is more suited to file storage. Bogahost servers ship with a hardware RAID controller by default and support RAID 1/10/50/60 configurations.

Is dedicated server management included?

Yes, we offer an optional server management service for dedicated servers. With unmanaged plans, hardware and network monitoring belong to Bogahost while the OS side is fully customer-owned. With managed plans, OS updates, security patches, kernel optimization, cPanel installation and daily monitoring are handled by our team. The managed option is activated with a monthly add-on fee.

How quickly are hardware failures fixed on the server?

The Bogahost data center has 24/7 on-site engineers and critical hardware failures (disk, RAM, motherboard) are typically replaced within 2 hours. Spare parts are stocked inside Mars DC, so there is no supply wait. Disk replacement and RAID restore may take a few extra hours, but service downtime is minimized by the redundant configuration. The SLA document is shared with customers during contract sign-up.

How many IP addresses come with a physical server?

Our standard dedicated server packages ship with 1 IPv4 and a /64 IPv6 block. Additional IPv4 addresses are provided at a monthly fee with a RIPE NCC justification. /29 or /28 IPv4 blocks can also be supplied for SSL, game, mail or VPN projects. IP assignments are configured by our technical team together with the routing setup.

Is it better to rent or buy a dedicated server?

For short- and medium-term projects (1-3 years), renting a dedicated server is more reasonable since hardware refresh, failures and data center costs belong to Bogahost. Buying a server brings large upfront cost, colocation (rack rental), power, cooling and technical staff expenses. With rentals, hardware upgrade requests after 36-48 months can be processed for free, while purchased hardware ages. Most SMBs and large businesses therefore prefer the rental model.
